Second-Year Pro Heads to Fayetteville

Fayetteville, N.C-  The Fayetteville Marksmen announced on Thursday the addition of second-year pro, John Celli.

Celli comes to the Marksmen for the 2017/18 season following a successful rookie campaign, which saw him begin with the Berlin River Drivers of the Federal Hockey League. In 42 games with the River Drivers, Celli netted 23 goals and added 23 assists for a 46-point season. His offensive output earned him two different call-ups to the SPHL, first with the Pensacola Ice Flyers for five games, recording two assists in that time, and with the Huntsville Havoc for two contests.

The native of Leominster, Massachusetts has totaled 54 professional games, having totaled 23 goals, 25 assists, for 48 career points.

Celli began his junior career in the Eastern Junior Hockey League for the 2007/08 season, lacing up for the Boston Junior Shamrocks. In 38 games for the Shamrocks, the 25-year-old notched two goals while adding five assists and 40 PIM to his credit.

For the 2008/09 season, Celli rejoined the Shamrocks, increasing his point total to 28 (13 goals, 15 assists), while adding an additional 39 PIM.

The following season, Celli suited up for the New England Junior Huskies, also of the EJHL. In his lone season with the Huskies, he appeared in 35 games, scoring five goals and eight assists on the season.

Celli moved to the Ontario Junior A Hockey League for the 2010/11 campaign, donning the Hamilton Red Wings crest for 39 games that season. He finished that campaign with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points.

Heading back to the EJHL, Celli joined the Valley Junior Warriors to conclude his junior career, notching nine goals and nine assists during the campaign.

The 5-foot-8, 165 pounds forward headed to Fitchburg State College of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the following season. In four seasons with the Falcons (2012-2016), Celli amassed 49 goals and 52 assists, giving him a four-year total of 101 points.
