FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, announced Thursday that they have signed forward Lucas Helland.
Helland, 25, from Billings, Mont., enters his fifth year of professional hockey this season and sports a tough reputation as one of the league’s grittiest players. Over 177 professional games, Helland has totaled 594 penalty minutes to go along with his 42 points (14 g, 28 a).
“Signing Lucas is huge for our group,” said Head Coach Garrett Rutledge. “I have had the luxury of coaching against him and adding him to the roster is amazing. When Lucas is in the line-up everyone plays a little bit bigger on the ice surface. His relentless forecheck and skating and hard hitting style is sure to be a fan favorite very quickly with the Marksmen.”
Helland and the rest of the Marksmen take the ice for the first time this season tonight in Roanoke, before Opening Night presented by Jaggers against the Rail Yards Dawgs on Saturday, October 17 at 6 pm. Secure your tickets today at marksmenhockey.com
