Kyler Head Returns to Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, announced Wednesday that they have signed forward Kyler Head for the 2026-27 season.

Head, 27, from Malone, N.Y., returns for his second full season with the Marksmen after a productive rookie season in Fayetteville. His 27 points (8 g, 19 a) in 49 games played were tied for fifth among Marksmen players, and built upon the strong start to his professional career that he established in the 2024-25 season.

“We’re very pleased to have Kyler back with us this season,” said Head Coach Garrett Rutledge. “Kyler has played at elite levels and to be able to have him signed with our group is very exciting for myself and for the fans. Kyler has great hockey IQ and a great skill set as well. I am excited to see him continue to succeed and develop in Fayetteville.”

Head broke onto the SPHL scene with a bang at the end of the 2024-25 season, with 10 points (4 g, 6 a) in his first 11 games in professional hockey. He turned pro with the Marksmen after five years of NCAA D-I hockey, the final four of which were spent with Mercyhurst University after starting out at Robert Morris University. In 105 games of collegiate hockey, Head put up 40 points (19 g, 21 a) across his five years.

“Fayetteville has always felt like home to me,” said Head. “The support from the fans is incredible, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back. I’m excited to play for coach Rutledge and the energy he’ll bring to our group. I’m looking forward to helping this team get back to where we expect to be and competing for a championship!”
