FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, announced Monday that they have signed defenseman Alex Davis for the 2026-27 season.

Davis, 26, from Broken Arrow, Okla., returns to the city he began his professional career in before being traded in January to Peoria, completing the future considerations from a trade made last offseason that saw Fayetteville acquire Colby Muise. In 38 games in his first professional season, Davis recorded seven points (2 g, 5 a), carrying a +12 rating.

“Bringing Alex back to Fayetteville was a priority,” said Head Coach Garrett Rutledge. “He has excelled as a puck moving defenseman. Alex is the type of player, on and off the ice, that we want in Fayetteville, He has a great relationship with our staff and we look forward to watching him excel in a Marksmen uniform.”

Prior to turning pro last season, Davis played four years at NCAA division-III University of Wisconsin-River Falls, where he recorded 41 points (8 g, 33 a) in 118 games. He also previously played three seasons under Assistant Coach Trevor Jewell with the USPHL’s Charlotte Rush, where he was the team’s captain in the 2020-21 season.

“I’m super excited to be back with the Fayetteville Marksmen,” said Davis. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to return, and I can’t wait to get back to work. I’m looking forward to another season of continuing to grow as a player, and do whatever I can to help the team succeed.”
