FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, announced Monday that they have signed defenseman Ayodele Adeniye for the 2026-27 season.

Adeniye, 27, from Columbus, Ohio, returns to the Marksmen after being acquired by the team in a trade with the Peoria Rivermen in March. In 13 games with the Marksmen last season, Adeniye recorded four assists and 40 penalty minutes while establishing himself as a strong presence on the back end for Fayetteville.

“Ayodele has been a player I have been trying to coach for the last couple years, and we’re excited to welcome him back to the Marksmen,” said Head Coach Garrett Rutledge. “As a coach, he has everything you want in a player and his ceiling is very high as a hockey player. Ayodele will relied upon to bring leadership, skill set and physical presence to our line up night in and out. He’ll be an important player to the Marksmen to continue building our standard and culture in Fayetteville.”

Prior to his professional career, Adeniye spent the 2020-21 season with NCAA division-I University of Alabama-Huntsville, appearing in 21 games. He then transferred to NCAA division-III Adrian College where he completed the last three years of his collegiate career, and logged 23 points (4 g, 19 a) through 85 games on his way to two NCHA championships and an NCAA III championship.
