FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, announced Friday that they have signed forward Aaron Hamel for the 2026-27 season.

Hamel, 25, from Okemos, Mich., aims to launch his professional career this season after a four year collegiate career, the last two spent at NCAA division-III Nichols College. In 52 games with Nichols, Hamel scored 32 points (10 g, 22 a) for the Bison.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to be apart of this team,” said Hamel. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about Coach Rutledge and I’m looking forward to getting to work with the staff and my teammates. I can’t wait to get started!”

Before beginning his collegiate career with NCAA division-III Arcadia University, Hamel played for the Charlotte Rush in the USPHL Premier. In 27 games during the 2021-22 season, Hamel recorded 32 points (11 g, 21a).

“We’re adding a versatile playmaker with Aaron,” said Head Coach Garrett Rutledge. “Former coaches speak very highly of him as a player and person. These types of qualities are what we are going to bring to Fayetteville.”
