Marksmen Acquire two-time Goaltender of the Year Ryan Kenny from Ice Flyers

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, have acquired two-time Goaltender of the Year Ryan Kenny from the Pensacola Ice Flyers in exchange for future considerations.

“Ryan is a workhorse who is a first-guy-to-the-rink, last-guy-to-leave professional,” said Head Coach Ryan Cruthers. “He is a big athletic goalie who has had success at the NCAA level. We believe he will set a tone from our crease out that falls in line with our overall team culture.”

Kenny, 24, from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, played college hockey at the Stevenson University before getting two games of experience with the ECHL’s Reading Royals at the end of the 2022-23 season.

The right-handed catching, 6’2” netminder earned a 56-23-5 record in his collegiate career and put up a .917 SV% and 2.43 GAA. Kenny was a decorated Stevenson athlete, and was named back-to-back UCHC First Team All-Conference, and Goaltender of the Year awards in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Additionally, he was listed to the NCAA Division-III MAC First Team All-Conference each of his university seasons, and was named the MAC’s Defensive Player of the Year his junior and senior years.
