Two-Year Pro Signs the Dotted Line

Fayetteville, N.C-  Two-year pro, Matt Beer, has agreed to terms with the Marksmen for the 2017/18 season, the team announced Thursday.

Beer joins the Marksmen following a successful campaign with the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Hockey League. In 45 games with the Prowlers, the 27-year-old deposited 20 goals while adding 11 assists for a total of 31 points.

Prior to joining the Prowlers, Beer spent parts of two seasons with the Mississippi RiverKings, totaling three points (one goal, two assist) in nine games to close out the 2014/15 season. Beer re-signed with the RiverKings for the following season, skating in 21 contests with the club, before joining the Prowlers who went on to win the Commissioner’s Cup as the Champions of the FHL, to finish the 2015/16 season.

The native of Corunna, Ontario has totaled 92 professional games, earning 54 points (31 goals, 23 assists).

Beer began his junior career in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League during the 2009/10 season, lacing up for the Estevan Bruins. In 52 games for the Bruins, Beer notched 14 goals while adding five assists for 19 points. The following season, he joined the Blind River Beavers of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, managing 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists) in just 25 games. Beer concluded his junior career in the Central Canada Hockey League, splitting the 2010/11 season with the Hawkesbury Hawks and the Pembroke Lumber Kings.

Joining SUNY-Morrisville, Beer spent the next four seasons with the Mustangs (2011-2015), appearing in 82 matches in that time, totaling 43 points (19 goals, 24 assists).
