Schiavo Heads to Kansas City

January 16, 2018

Fayetteville, N.C-  John Schiavo has been called-up to the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL, the team announced on Tuesday.

In 29 games with the Marksmen, the team’s second-leading scorer has registered 31 points, good enough for fourth in scoring in the SPHL. Of those 31 points, 14 have come in the form of goals, ranking him tied for third in the league.

The 23-year-old native of East Patchogue, New York is a two-year veteran of the professional hockey ranks, spending time in the ECHL, SPHL, and FHL. Last season, Schiavo split time amongst four teams; the Watertown Wolves (FHL), Danbury Titans (FHL), Huntsville Havoc, and Mississippi RiverKings. In 14 games of action at the SPHL level, Schiavo amassed eight points (1 goal, 7 assists). Prior to the 2016/17 season, the 5’10” forward spent his rookie season with the Macon Mayhem and the Kansas City Mavericks (ECHL).

In a separate transaction, the Marksmen have resigned Justin Blaszak.
