Preseason Game at Macon CANCELLED Ahead of Hurricane Michael

MACON, GA – A month after North Carolina was threatened by the imminence of Hurricane Florence from the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf Coast now sees a similar danger approaching quickly in Hurricane Michael.

With our league partners in Pensacola and Macon both on the path of Michael, the Macon Mayhem and Fayetteville Marksmen have officially decided today that the best course of action is to cancel Friday, October 12th’s scheduled preseason game.

The game, announced a month ago, would serve as both team’s first preseason game, and chance to see Training Camp attendees in game action. However, after Fayetteville and the southeast North Carolina community dealt with the effects of a similar storm, the decision was mutually-made as the best course of action for the safety of the Macon community, and for the travel of the Marksmen team.

Marksmen Head Coach Jesse Kallechy believes that the move is best for the organizations.

“While we are obviously disappointed in losing a chance to have our guys face another squad, having been on the other end of such a threat like a Hurricane, safety definitely needs to take priority,” said Kallechy “We hope for such safety and well-being for our friends in Macon, and look forward to our battle with them next weekend.”

The Fayetteville Marksmen organization shares the sentiments of our coach, and will be keeping the Mayhem, and all those in the path of the Hurricane, in our thoughts hoping for the storm to lose momentum.
