Player Signing Recap

Fayetteville, N.C.- Head Coach Nick Mazzolini and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Cruthers have been working all summer to build their roster. Listed below is a recap of the first six signings of the offseason.

 

Brad Drobot- Signed July 2, 2017

The first signing for Head Coach Mazzolini and Director of Hockey Ops Ryan Cruthers, The 27-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta is entering his fourth season of professional hockey. The 2016-17 campaign saw career-highs for Drobot, who amassed five goals and seven assists among 51 games. The fan-favorite also eclipsed his Penalty in Minutes total, registering 126 PIM last season.

Jake Hauswirth- Signed July 18, 2017

Hauswirth returns to Fayetteville as the league-leading goal scorer. The 29-year-old native of Marquette, Michigan notched 31 goals, which led the league, among 52 points-which placed him third in league scoring. Hauswirth joined Fayetteville last season after spending 11 games with the Peoria Rivermen.

John Schiavo- Signed July 20, 2017

Schiavo joins the Marksmen for his third season of professional hockey. The 23-year-old native of East Patchogue, New York has spent time in the ECHL, SPHL, and FHL. Last season, Schiavo split time amongst four teams; the Watertown Wolves (FHL), Danbury Titans (FHL), Huntsville Havoc, and Mississippi RiverKings. In 14 games of action at the SPHL level, Schiavo amassed eight points (1 goal, 7 assists). Prior to the 2016/17 season, the 5’10” forward spent his rookie season with the Macon Mayhem and the Missouri Mavericks (ECHL).

Sean Robertson- Signed July 25, 2017

Robertson returns to the Marksmen, where he posted 22 assists on the season, while managing a plus-14 +/- rating, in his rookie campaign. Before joining Fayetteville, Robertson attended camp with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL, eventually earning a call up to the club in February.

Matt Beer- Signed July 27, 2017

Beer joins the Marksmen following a successful campaign with the Port Huron Prowlers of the Federal Hockey League. In 45 games with the Prowlers, the 27-year-old deposited 20 goals while adding 11 assists for a total of 31 points. Prior to joining the Prowlers, Beer spent parts of two seasons with the Mississippi RiverKings, totaling three points (one goal, two assist) in nine games to close out the 2014/15 season.

Brad Campagna- Signed August 1, 2017

Campagna joined the Marksmen for the 2016/17 season following a three- game stint with the Knoxville Ice Bears. In 34 games in Fayetteville, the stay-at-home defender posted five assists, 40 PIM and finished the season with a +1 +/- rating.
