FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Heading into the month of hockey, the Fayetteville Marksmen professional hockey team has went in-state in finding its newest Equipment Manager, Ryan “Sandbox” Sanford.

Sanford, an Indian Trail native, is a former player for the Charlotte Rush (USPHL-Premier). Following his playing career, Sanford stepped in as an Assistant Equipment Manager under Matthaeus Wanninger for the Rush for the 2016-2017 Season, where the team would win the USPHL-Elite Championship.

After the season, Wanninger departed to be the Equipment Manager for, coincidentally, the Fayetteville Marksmen, and Sanford was promoted to Head Equipment Manager for 2017-2018.

Now after a couple seasons with the Rush, Sanford finds himself moving to the same position that started the journey for him – with the Marksmen.

“It means the world to start my professional career here in Fayetteville,” said Sanford “I was fortunate enough to come help out with the team a couple years ago in Juniors and see what it means to be a Marksmen. Now that I’m here, I can’t wait to get started and wear the logo proudly.”

Sanford will be the second former-member of the Rush joining the Marksmen for the 2019-2020 season, with Forward Kyle Moore signing to a tryout agreement earlier in September.
