Mazurek Called Up to Atlanta Gladiators

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Marksmen forward and second-year pro David Mazurek has been called up on a loan to the ECHL’s Atlanta Gladiators (Boston Bruins affiliate).

Mazurek, 26, is outdoing what he accomplished in his first season in no time at all. In 13 games played for the Marksmen, Mazurek already has 15 points (8G+7A), surpassing what he accomplished in 25 games in Pensacola last year.

As the league’s second-leading goal and point scorer, it is not surprising to see someone with his scoring prowess finding their way to the next level.

This is the first higher-level call up of the year for the Marksmen, and the first in the career of David Mazurek, an OHL alum.

With the exciting news, Mazurek had thoughts to share on his ecstatic feeling of having the opportunity, and his thankfulness of the organization for getting him to the next level.

“Obviously I wasn’t expecting, so it took me by surprise. However, that didn’t make this decision any easier. I am very thankful for the opportunity to climb up the hockey ladder, and help a team in Atlanta. I spoke with coaches Jesse and Peter this morning after I was given the news – because our team here in Fayetteville has been my #1 priority from Day 1. However, this is an experience that I personally feel like I owe to my family and to myself,” said Mazurek

“Up to this point, I thank the entire Marksmen organization, as well as our Coaches, for believing in me and giving me an incredible opportunity to play hockey in Fayetteville. I don’t know how long my stay will be, however I’m always a Marksmen. I will be coming straight here if I happen to return from my call-up.”

The Gladiators have a home-and-home with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this weekend.

We wish nothing but the best for ‘Handsome Dave’ as he takes on higher-level competition, and hope that he will return in a Marksmen jersey later this season.
