League-Leading Goal Scorer Returns to Fayetteville

Fayetteville, N.C-  The Fayetteville Marksmen have re-signed Jake Hauswirth for the 2017/18 season, the team announced Tuesday.

“Haus is an elite player at this level and a veteran presence. We are extremely happy to have him and his family return to Fayetteville,” Director of Hockey Operations, Ryan Cruthers said.

Statistically speaking, the 2016/17 season was Hauswirth’s best, as the 29-year-old native of Marquette, Michigan notched 31 goals, which led the league, among 52 points-which placed him third in league scoring. Hauswirth joined Fayetteville last season after spending 11 games with the Peoria Rivermen.

Hauswirth has appeared in 412 professional games with four different leagues (AHL, ECHL, CHL, SPHL) and 13 different teams. He began his pro career with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, where he was teammates with current Washington Capitals netminder, Braden Holtby, at the beginning of the 2009/10 season.

In total, the veteran has tallied 129 goals, 138 assists for 267 points.

Prior to turning pro, Hauswirth skated in 55 games for his hometown Marquette Rangers of the NAHL. As a member of the Rangers, Hauswirth tallied 21 goals among 40 points. The following season, he joined the Omaha Lancers. The team would go on to win the Clark Cup as league champions for the 2007/08 season. He returned to the Lancers for the 2008/09 season and chipped in 28 goals among 52 points.
